Lalibela elevation 2600m, Asheton 3200m. It is a mountainous country uphill to Asheton, downhill to Lalibela. Overnight in Lalibela.
The hike to Neakutoleab climbs up a rocky path with very nice viewpoints over the town of Lalibela and its surroundings. Some of the area you pass along is inhabited by the Amhara people who practice family based subsistent agriculture. You will stop in a small village to see the local life. You will also visit the 13th century rock-cut church of Asheton. The hill near the church has almost 360° view.

Originally measuring 33 meters and weighing 520 tones, the largest one was the largest piece of rock ever carved and transported by human beings. The surrounding of Axum has plenty of sites of historical significance. The way of life of the Tigrian people who live in Axum and its environs is also interesting. The majority of the Trigrian practice traditional agriculture and keep livestock.

Camel excursion to Gobedra which is the area where the famous stelae of Axum were excavated. The first part of the path passes through the old part of the town of Axum. People here build their houses from rocks. The path is relatively flat but the last part of the path is hilly and rocky. You will see granite boulders which indicate that the ancient people of Axum carved rocks from the site for stelae, tombs, palaces and churches.
